CHILD PROSTITUTION & PRONOGRAPHY
Childline, an NGO based in Gaborone, reports the existence of child prostitution on the border road between South Africa and Botswana. Young girls from the surrounding areas engage in sex for survival and many of them are suspected to be orphans running child headed households. Most of the sex exploiters in this particular area are truck drivers on the way to or from South Africa
According to several different sources - Young girls engaging in prostitution are particularly evident when large groups of foreigners or tourists arrive in the city hotels for conferences.
According to NGO and media reports the problem of sexual harassment of children from teachers is a national concern. |
