Dear
Kailashji,
Finally, I was released yesterday evening by a landmark
decision made by the Supreme Court of Nepal. About a week ago, a joint
petition writ for Habeas Corpus against my illegal detention was registered
by my wife Sumnima, CWIN and national Alliance for Human Rights and Social
Justice. Supreme Court had ordered to produce the detainee in the court
during the hearing. After hearing from my lawyers and defending lawyers, the
honorable bench had said that the detention is illegal, therefore, Gauri
Pradhan should be released right from the court. This decision has not only
provided relief to me but also protected the human rights of all people who
are illegally detained or will be detained in the days to come.
I am quite aware that as a leader of the Global March Against
Child Llabour, you have done your best to convince and put pressure to the
Nepalis Authority for my release and protection. You have also helped
mobilise the international community for this cause. The support and
solidarity demonstrated from our friends of the GM Movement worldwide was
very remarkable. I on behalf of my family, CWIN and myself, would like to
express my sincerest thanks for your personal initiative in organising
campaign for my release. I also thank to all our friends of GM movement
worldwide who have joined the campaign for my release. I also appreciate the
hard work undertaken by the GMIS in this regard. "Friends in Need are
Friends Indeed".
I am very proud of being a part of this worldwide movement, Global
march against Child Labour.
Thank you for your cooperation. Thank you once again.
Sincerely,
Gauri Pradhan
President, CWIN
