Niñas y Adolescentes trabajadoras piden oportunidades

Las organizaciones que forman parte de la Plataforma Subregional sobre trabajo infantil y adolescente se unen a la celebración del Día Internacional contra el Trabajo Infantil, exigiendo a los Estados cumplan y garanticen los derechos civiles, políticos, económicos, sociales y culturales de los niños, niñas y adolescentes trabajadores, implementando políticas públicas y sociales con asignación de recursos necesarios. En esta ocasión quieren solicitar que se contemple la particular situación de invisibilización, vulnerabilidad, discriminación y explotación que se encuentran las niñas y las adolescentes que realizan trabajos domésticos.

Summary of World Day against Child Labour Campaign 2009 in Japan

The main event of the World Day Against Child Labour Campaign in Japan was held on 6th June in Tokyo, by Child Labour Network (CL-Net), the ILO office in Japan and NGO-Trade Unions International Collaboration Forum. All tickets were sold out as soon as the event was opened and about 400 people participated in it. This event was organized as a combination of movie and symposium. The movie "Children of the Dark (Yami no Kodomotachi) " is a story about child trafficking and organ trade involving children in Thai and Japan. Though it is based on a fiction story, it evokes emotional reaction and understanding of how children are exploited. In the symposium, panelists introduced the condition of child trafficking in Thai, Cambodia and in Japan, and discussed the challenges we face and possible measures in order to stop illegal and exploitative child trafficking and the worst forms of child labour.

Educação – A Verdadeira Alternativa ao Trabalho Infantil

O dia 12 de Junho é o Dia Mundial Contra o Trabalho Infantil.
Em todo o mundo, segundo números da Organização Internacional de Trabalho, cerca de 200 milhões de crianças, entre os 5 e os 17 anos, trabalham.

Aproximadamente 165 milhões de crianças com idades entre os 5 e os 14 anos, faltam ou abandonam definitivamente a Escola para trabalhar.

São estas crianças, as que não vão para a Escola, que mais facilmente entram na “clandestinidade”, e que estão mais susceptíveis de entrar em redes de tráfico, de pedofilia e de prostituição.

No dia 12 de Junho, a CNASTI, tal como centenas de organizações no mundo inteiro, quer lembrar que só a Educação de Qualidade é a Verdadeira Alternativa ao Trabalho Infantil.

Em Portugal, o trabalho infantil continua a existir em sectores como a agricultura, a construção civil e “ao domicílio”. As fábricas, sobretudo do sector têxtil e do calçado, raramente empregam crianças nas suas instalações mas entregam trabalho para que as famílias – incluindo as crianças – o façam em casa.

Embora sem número oficiais, é certo que muitas crianças passam horas a coser sapatos ou a cortar linhas em roupa.

O trabalho infantil artístico é outra das preocupações da CNASTI. Nas novelas, nos musicais, na publicidade, na moda e nos filmes há cada vez mais crianças a trabalhar. Um trabalho diferente do “tradicional” mas que, da mesma forma, tira os menores da escola e obriga-os a ter uma vida muito pouco adequada à idade que têm.

Por tudo isto, a Confederação Nacional de Acção Sobre Trabalho Infantil defende a Escola como alternativa ao Trabalho.

Em seminários, conferências e acções realizadas em pareceria com a Organização das Nações Unidas/Objectivos do Milénio, a CNASTI defende a Valorização da Escola e das Aprendizagens.

A Escola é, e será sempre, a primeira instituição que as crianças encontram e deve ser um espaço capaz de formar cidadãos activos. Na Escola, o aluno é o centro do projecto educativo.

No Dia Mundial Contra o Trabalho Infantil, frisamos que a Escola é dos alunos e para os alunos. São eles o princípio, o meio e o fim de uma Escola de sucesso.

Liberation of 46 Bonded Child Labourers on the eve of World Day Against Child Labour

New Delhi 12th June 2009 – 46 trafficked children were rescued today in a raid and rescue operation conducted by Bachpan Bachao Andolan ( Save the Childhood Movement ) , with the help of Sub Divisional Magistrate and Delhi Police from Narela industrial area. All the children were found working on rubber slippers and shoes industries. Among the rescued children 42 are boys of age group 7-13 years old and 4 are girls of age group 13-14 years. They all have been trafficked from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal with a promise of better future. Mohan (name changed) 7 year old the youngest child from the group is from Mujffarpur District of Bihar has bruises in on his hands and neck showing how brutally he has been beaten. On asking the reason behind the marks he informed BBA activists he was made to work for 12-13 hours daily and for not giving satisfying results was beaten up with sticks. He also said that “One day a uncle from my village came to my house and gave money to his parents and was brought to Delhi to work in the footwear industry, I was made to work with chemicals and heavy machines to flatten the leather and to paste the soles of the shoes because of which my eyes burn and also my back hurts a lot”. Other children had the same story as Mohan’s. R.S Chaurasia , Chairperson of Bachpan Bachao Andolan who was also present in the raid said that “finding children in un-organized sector like roadside eateries and shops is common in Delhi but to find children working in organized industrial sector of Narela is shocking and also raise questions on monitory mechanism of the government. There are approximately 10.000 children who are working in the industries of Narela”. “It’s important that strict actions should be taken against the employers and scrutinizes the government system”. Shyama (name changed) 13 year old still remembers the day when his father was threatened by the money lender for not giving his money back and on the stake of the money Shyama was taken away from her home and brought to Delhi Narela industrial area. She is not even given a penny for her work but just beating and humiliations from the employers; she still doesn’t know how much money is still left to be repaid. Sumedha Kailash, Director Bal Ashram, said that “It has been years that I have been supporting the raid and rescue team and every time I see the conditions of children it rips my heart. I can imagine the pain of all the mothers of these children. Today it was also quiet visible that labour department was connived with the employers and was not ready to conduct the raid. On the eve of World Day against Child Labour many conferences are happening all around the world and many policies would be laid down to save the life of children but the question is how many of them are we able to really save? It’s important now that we keep our pens down and actually save the lives it’s high time now. Kuanal Kumar , SDM Narela said that Upon speaking to the children, we realised that they worked from 7AM-1:00PM in the night and never received any wages for their work. This clearly means that they were bonded labours. Hence, they would be given release certificates under the Bonded Labour Act. This release certificate entitles them to their rehabilitation package of Rs. 20,000, the availing of government schemes like Indira Awas Yojana, housing schemes etc on a priority basis.
