Global March Against Child Labour - From Exploitation to Education
Day 15: Bettiah (Bihar) and Gorakhpur (Uttarpradesh)

11 March 2007, 10:00 AM, Bettiah – In the morning, before departed for Gorakhpur the marchers went and paid homage to the mortars who let down their lives for independence at Shaheed Ismarak by observing a two minutes silence. Afterwards the marchers started a rally in the main market of Bettiah. The rally went to the house were Gandhi had stayed for more than six months. The rally then departed for Gopalganj where a meeting has been scheduled in afternoon. But 40 kms. outside Bettiah a bus got stalled. Mukti (Liberation) Carvan carrying the cultural tour of former child labourers turned activists, that had already gone forward and started the meeting in Gopalganj with street theature and awareness generating song and skits. The remaining marchers join them at 5 o'clock and together the team moved forward towards Gorakhpur where it was welcomed at the border by a team of local activists led by Umashankar Yadav and R. K. Rai.
