Some 29 delegates including representatives
from UN Agencies, Ministers of Education
and civil society leaders attended the
High-Level Group Meeting on Education
for All held in Paris. Its main objective
was to come up with concrete measures
to accelerate the EFA process.

Summit
In the Genoa G8 Summit the International
Secretariat in conjunction with a number
of Global March coordinators, distributed
a press release in five languages, addressing
the importance of education and demanding
a substantial allocation of funds to be
used for the education of all children.

Meeting
of the World Bank-IMF Development Committee
As part of the Global Campaign for Education,
the Global March was involved in lobbying
for debt-for-education swaps and other
policies to promote education.
The
Second Global Action Week
The Global Campaign for Education and
the Global March held the second ever
Action Week for Education. It was a critical
event for mobilising public pressure for
urgent action for education.
The
World Conference on Education
The Global March Against Child Labour
on behalf of the Global Campaign hosted
the World Congress on Education at New
Delhi, India. The World Congress had two
major sessions: a Public Forum on February
13, 2001, which had some 300 guests from
around the world and an internal GCE Congress.
It was the first meeting of civil society
leaders from around the world exclusively
on the issue of education.
