Achievements
Significant
achievements of WAO:
- Ratification
of the ILO Convention 182 by a great majority of
the governments of the region.
- Signature
with ILO of a draft treaty to eradicate child domestic
labour in Togo
- Due
to Afrique's concerted efforts, the problem of child
labour, trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation
of children has become a priority topic and an issue
of major concern for government in Togo and in the
West African Region.
- As
a Regional Coordinator for the Global March Against
Child Labour WAO - Afrique has shown great dedication
and commitment to bring progress in the fight against
child labour and sustainable improvement in the
life of children suffering from societal ignorance
and behaviour in general, and from lack of institutional
protection in particular. Furthermore, it has helped
in the promotion of the Education for All Project,
especially the promotion of free and quality education
for all priorities in the Francophone West African
Government's Agenda. Also communities in Togo and
in the region are today more aware of the fact that
the fight against child labour should be won through
the challenge of children's education.
