As the world-wide trade union organisation of education, the Education International represents all sectors of education from pre-school to university. It is also associated with the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions and has developed privileged working relations with a number of major international organisations. The federation is the Council Convenor of the Global March.

Several aspects like defending the professional and industrial rights of the education personnel, developing quality public education for all, combating with racism and discriminination against education and society, ensuring the termination of child labour etc, come under the objectives of EI ( Education International).

Activities

Campaign for Culture and Peace

EI has contributed to the International Peace for a Culture of Peace, 2000, by producing a kit which provides details regarding human rights issues, and peace initiatives from an education perspective.

Quality Public Education for All

Education is the basis of survival, the means to an enhanced future. It plays an essential role in eradicating problems like poverty and child labour. EI aims to achieve quality public education for all, by enabling the poorer section to access schools. The idea is to enable the child to prosper in an environment, which respects all cultures, and prepares the young minds for societies undergoing profound transformation at a political, cultural and social level.
