Joseph S. Blatter - FIFA General Secretary

For some two years now, FIFA has been actively engaged in the fight Against Child Labour, and more specifically in the production of footballs in Pakistan. We are aware that, this is not the only branch of industry where children are exploited by ruthless entrepreneurs, but the high-profile nature of our sport makes it a favourite target for media reportage – much of which, unfortunately is badly misinformed.

If, however, football's fight against this scourge succeeds not only in eliminating child labour in the football manufacturing industry but also helps spotlight the problem on a wider level, then our efforts will have been doubly useful. Meanwhile, we wish the Global March Against Child Labour every success and congratulate all those who have committed themselves to the campaign.

Joseph S. Blatter
FIFA General Secretary
